“La dame Noir” is mainly concerned by retro-futuristic obsessional lunar music.We are dancing on voodoo disco, broadcasting, booking & supporting all the artists making those electronic spells.

We are djs and our love for music is as strong as our love to share it. That is the reason why we started this blog, and that is the only reason why we are recommending you to attend those artists gigs & to buy their music if you can afford so.If you are a producer and want your tune to be taken off this blog, let us know. But please, if your music is there, it just means that we are playing it and loving your work so tell us if you are fine with being represented by another song of yours.

Throughout this blog we are sharing the music that we spin, this is our night&day playlist. We are not interested in sharing the lastest freshest brand new tune, all songs have been tested and approved. Consequently if you like the way it sounds we would recommend you not to check only the lateste freshest post. We like to believe that the very first tune posted is as good as the latest one. Music will be changing and evolving throug the blog and it’s all because of the influence of the moon, of the seasons, of the day it’s been posted and of our mood.It is not a fuckin’ “cahier de tendances”.

So finally the Disco Outcasts are one year old. We’d like to thank everybody who has made our first year so special including all at the Pussy Cat, all the guest DJs, promoters we have been involved with and most importantly all the Outcasts who pack out our dance floor week in, week out!

We’ve invited a very special guest down from Glasgow for our birthday party, being Eskimo Records and Solar Disco’s very own discoid hot shot… MAELSTROM!

Maelstrom first came to prominence with a now infamous reworking of Metro Area’s seminal Miura and quickly gained support from the likes of Todd Terje and LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy despite being his debut production.

Determined not to be a flash-in-the-pan producer, he was quickly signed up by the revered Belgian imprint Eskimo Recordings where his Balearic-tinged disco house sits perfectly alongside the likes of Aeroplane, Peter Visti and, of course, Lindstrom and Prins Thomas. His knack for cleverly crafting edits has also grown with releases on Mindless Boogie, Beard Science and his own Solardisco label.

Originally set up as a vehicle for his own productions, 2009 will see Solardisco go in to overdrive with releases and remixes from the likes of Ilija Rudman, Sankt Goran, Blackbelt Andersen, Brendon Moeller, Runaway and Nick Chacona to name but a few with a joint release planned with the uber-hip DFA Records in the summer.

As an accomplished DJ he has recently taken in gigs in Stockholm, Athens, Dublin, London (including the legendary Horse Meat Disco) and as far afield as Vilnius in Lithuania.

With more releases imminent on Eskimo, Mindless Boogie and Prins Thomas’ Internasjonal this year is shaping up nicely for the Glaswegian.

Outcast Love # 8 - GREG WILSON

We are delighted to bring you the next edition in the 'Outcast Love' series from the genius that is Greg Wilson. Greg has kindly given us an exclusive live mix recorded at Auto Disco / Dundee 25/04/08. A set that encompasses Greg's unmistakable style of electro funk & boogie with his own edits included in the mix, you will no doubt be getting down to this mix time & time again.

We had the pleasure of playing with Greg last year & to watch the man up close & personal is a real treat for any lover of good music. The live set up consisting of his reel to reel, laptop & cd controller is awe inspiring. I can remember saying on the night "we are watching a true master at work". Enjoy xx














Greg began DJing in 1975 and is regarded as one of the most important figures on the UK dance scene. He enjoyed hugely popular residencies in the early eighties at Wigan Pier and Manchester's majorly influential Legend. He was a pioneer of mixing in the UK and in 1983 he became the first ‘dance music’ DJ hired for a regular weekly session at Manchester's now legendary Hacienda club. Greg was instrumental in breaking the new electronic, post-disco records coming out of New York, a sound he has dubbed ‘Electro-Funk’.

In 2003 he set up his own website electrofunkroots to document this crucial era in the evolution of dance culture and, having retired from DJ work at the end of 1983, Greg returned to spinning tunes two decades later, receiving plaudits for his red-hot appearances at renowned nights including Electric Chair, Horse Meat Disco, Fabric, Back To Basics, Ministry Of Sound, Asylum, Melting Pot and the Sub Club, to name but a few. Before long he was picking up an ever increasing amount of bookings throughout Europe and, more recently, worldwide.

In 2005 Tirk Records released ‘Credit to the Edit’, a compilation of re-edits spanning Greg's entire career, some even original tape edits from way back when (Greg still uses his trusty old Revox B77 reel-to-reel tape machine when DJing out). This wasn't his first compilation either, having collaborated on most of the tracks to appear on the Street Sounds ‘UK Electro’ LP in 1984, as well as being the selector behind the ‘Classic Electro Mastercuts’ LP in 1994.

Other firsts for Greg include being the first DJ to mix live on British TV (The Tube in 1983), putting together the first UK radio mixes of their type for Piccadilly 261 in Manchester (beginning 1982) and showing a certain Norman Cook, then a young aspiring DJ called Quentin, how to scratch (Dec ’83). Greg has written for magazines / webzines like Wax Poetics, Clash, Grand Slam and Discopia, and presented a monthly online radio series, ‘Time Capsule’, on Samurai FM.

2008 saw Greg go truly global, embarking on an end of year tour that literally took him right around the world, with dates in Japan, Australia and Brazil, following-on from a series of gigs in the US (a return to New York and his San Francisco and LA debuts). Now a firm favourite on the festival circuit in both the UK and Europe, he also played Ibiza for the first time in the summer of 08, including a terrace appearance at the famous We Love Sundays session at Space.

Nominated by DJ magazine for outstanding contribution, and also named amongst their top twenty remixers of all-time, Greg’s edits and mixes continue to feature on the playlists of DJ’s in every continent.

In January 2009 Greg’s reputation was further enhanced when his Essential Mix on BBC Radio 1 became something of an instant classic, receiving almost universal acclaim and, in the process, providing the perfect way to commemorate the 5th anniversary of a remarkable renaissance.
