Outcast Love # 13 - MICHELE CESANA

Outcast Love # 13 comes from Michele Cesana of the fierce Sci Fi Pogo blog. His blog consists of truly wonderful & hard to find tracks & edits from the world of balearica, disco, rock & more. I am personally a huge fan of his blog & without hesitation i asked Michele would he like to do a mix for my series.

The mix reflects Michele's blog to the point with some wonderful tracks that are perfect for a long hot summers day & night. So, pour yourself a glass of chilled rose sit on the terrace or in the garden & relax to sound of Michele Cesana. Enjoy xx

I'm a 30 years old man from Milan, addicted to all the music with nice feelings. I run a small blog with an absurd name: sci-fi pogo. Please don't ask what does it mean: I really don't know. If you want to check it go on, you'll find nice edits I received from some great producers. I really want to say thanks all the guys who sent me or allowed to post their stuff: Sirbilly, Club Silencio, Tom Croose, Kommand, Blackjoy, Leo Zero, Rune Lindbaek, Loudtone, etc.

About this mix, you need to know that I usually don't do mixtapes: I mean, as I said to Stef, I usually make these "waves" only for my friends. I hope you'll like it! This mix is about the sun, big waves, good people and pretty girls.

Outcast Love # 12 - GARETH CHESHIRE

Next up in the 'Outcast Love' series is Liverpool dj & edit maestro Gareth Cheshire. His edits are a thing of beauty & worthy of a place in any discerning djs folder.. He has recently played with Horse Meat Disco, Groove Armada, Sebo K as well as radio sessions for Juice FM on their ‘Red Zone’ and ’After Hours’ shows as well as Manchester Key 103’s ‘Back to Our House’.

So, whilst you are getting ready for a night in your favourite basement slip into the sound of Gareth Cheshire. Enjoy x

Sometimes inspiration comes from the most unlikely of places, and it’s certainly true of DJ Gareth Cheshire. Having been involved in dance music for a few years promoting Liverpool clubnight 'Bubblegum', he was forced to take a break from DJing for twelve months when he ruptured his eardrums in 2007. For some it would mark the death knell for their musical passion, but the time out proved to be exactly the vindication Cheshire would need, ensuring a swift resurgence once his ears finally healed.

Gareth is one of the players on the Liverpool club scene and garnering a splurge of gigs, notably at three of the city’s most impressive small nights in Freeze, Pigeonhole Disco and Coco de Mer. Chopping tracks on the fly and taking DJing beyond simply playing records, he was quickly blurring the boundaries between DJ and artist, utilising his software in every way it has been intended. Inspired by the edit culture that engulfed the nouveau disco scene, he focused on how the software could reanimate the music he loved, adding his own personal twist and stamp at every opportunity in much the same vein as the heroes of the genre, Larry Levan, Greg Wilson and Ron Hardy among them, had done previously.

It’s all led to Gareth reaffirming himself as an artist and DJ of real note and promise. His obscure disco edits of Talking Heads and The Police have found their ways into the boxes of Phat Phil Cooper, 40 Thieves, Steve Parry and Yousef, the latter who has been a keen supporter of Gareth since his early DJing forages.

Disco Outcast - Must Come Down Mix

Airbound Festival, Croatia>>>

Airbound Festival
Friday July 31st - Sunday August 2nd 2009
Petrcane, Croatia

Bodytonic & Nightflight have united to bring you 'Airbound', a 3 day festival taking place between Friday July 31st and Sunday August 2nd, in Petrcane, Croatia.

While everyone else worries about another rainy August Bank Holiday weekend, why not escape to the scorching temperatures and beautiful surroundings of Petrcane, a 900 year old Croatian fishing village at the mouth of the Adriatic Sea?

With open-air stages on the beach, a cosmic 1970’s nightclub called Barbarellas and a pirate ship, The Argonaut, sailing out into the sea and back again for 4 blissful hours each day, this is probably unlike any festival you’ve ever been at before.

The line up is an intoxicating mixture of some of the finest International and Irish DJs, live acts and music collectives. Musically it will something for everyone, keeping it downtempo by day at the bar with a mix of yacht rock, warped electronica, folk and Balearic groovers, then its onto the outside terrace for dubstep, hip hop, disco and live bands, before the club kicks off with late night house and techno!

Confirmed acts include...
Alexander Robotnik, Ben Klock, Chymera, Dancepig, Daniel Wang, David Kitt, Donal Dineen, Jape, Kormac, Mano Le Tough, Marcel Dettmann, Mondo Disco, Nathan Fake, R.S.A.G., Slow Motion Crew and more!
