Now 20 years on and you'll still find steve lee spinning various and eclectic electronic music across London and the UK. He's one half of Mondo Disco held at the Horse & Groom in Shoreditch, London. Mondo concentrates on nu-disco, mutant disco, re-edits, acid grooves and classic italo. it was started off the back of the facebook group "Disco Not Disco" where regular spinners - Kelvin Andrews, Daniel Donnachie, Graeme Fisher and Ollie Humpidge drop the best in cosmic oddities and the deeper side of disco.

In addition to Mondo, steve still spins at his long running Friday night KOLLEKTIV held at The Lincoln Lounge in Kings Cross. And, if you drop-in midweek you'll also find him running his little candle-lit acoustic night featuring folk/balearic guitar vibes from Kal Lavelle, Jim Gipson, Souther Still and many other quality artists.

In 2008, steve has been a guest at Coloured Sound, Love To Fly, The Sosho, The Big Chill, The End, Fabric, HiSushi, The Player, Thirst, The Bethnal Green Star, Balearic BBQ at La Cave, The Halloween Howler and other media fash-waa parties.

Outcast love # 2

Disco Outcasts present the second installment of their "outcast love" mix series, with Daniel Donnachie from Cosmic Dancing. Danny is a new friend of the Disco Outcasts with a suprise hour set for Leo's birthday & he is confirmed to play at the disco dive January 31st 2009.

I've just arrived straight from Camp Cosmic. I am also branded with the title “compulsive sicko” by friends as collecting and playing music has been a major passion for over half my life now. Every day I crave to learn about music I haven’t discovered yet whilst listening to music that has already been attained. I frequently try and go through my favourite dj’s bag to hear ones I haven’t heard about and not devoured yet. Since the age of 16 I have been gaining experience in all types of scenarios and parties, learning about vital underground classics and rarities along with taste making new artists that come to light over time. Since the start I have had a string of residencies in clubs and bars in Leicester, Nottingham, Stoke and London. Guest gigs all over the uk and a small number of gigs abroad. I have been the protégé to a dj called Kelvin Andrews. He is one of the few dj’s in the UK who has been involved in making music, spinning tunes and putting on parties since the inception of the UK dance scene in the early 80’s. The knowledge I have gained off him has completely opened my brain giving me the ability to embrace all forms of music.

Gradually over time I have been able to entertain people with a very wide range of music. The thing I am most popular for is my disco and house sets or bringing an eclectic sound to a main room. I have a personal taste that lets me satisfy most people this could involve cosmic sounds, vocals, dubs, disco, funk and soul or on a flip side I would energise people with house and techno like click funk, minimal, dub disco, deep house which can deliver a more futuristic sound. Those are my two extremes I like to bring to the party. I only play records I personally like, present the tracks in two ways. Just let them breathe or mix them up. Just depends on the record really. I hate to mix things up too much when you don't really need to. Some people think I'm being lazy when I just let the record run out. Some people think you lose the flow if you don't mix anything but some records are just not meant to be messed with. Personally I think there isn't enough people out there who dig great music and just want an easy sound or a very overplayed commercial record but for me if that is what I got for going out I would feel a bit ripped off.

POLAROID SOUNDSYSTEM

Rounding things off for us this year we bring you a UK debut from the latest talent to emerge from the French electronic scene. Discodeine are Pilooski and Benjamin Morendo. Hailed by Ivan Smagghe as ‘the real sound of Paris’, their releases on their own Dirty imprint have steadily been gaining praise from the more discerning circles of dance music with their quirky cosmic edits and electronic funk, which culminated in a stunning label showcase at the Sonar festival in Barcelona this summer. Their ‘Ring Modulation’ release from earlier this year was played in any credible club you care to mention from house, electro and minimal DJs alike and has since been followed up by their delightful remix for Metronomy. Along with the likes of Joakim and Chateau Flight, they are flying the banner for a new wave of exciting Parisian DJ’s and producers and we are delighted to have them play their first UK show at Polaroid.

Will a lady pin me in her hair?
Will a child find me by a stream?
Kiss my petals and weave me through a dream.

For all of these simple things and much more a flower was born
It blooms to spread love and joy faith and hope to people forlorn

Inside every man lives the seed of a flower
If he looks within he finds beauty and power

Ring all the bells sing and tell the people that be aware that the flower has come
Light up the sky with your prayers of gladness and rejoice for the darkness is gone
Throw off your fears let your heart beat freely at the sign that a new time is born
